What, is this funny or something??
Dot
I had to do it. I got a second to snap a shot of our youngest cat, and it came out nice.
In other news, It Is Weekend.
Checking in…
It’s gotten pretty bad out there.
Luckily the resources on campus are such that I’ve had a contingency plan for just such an occasion. The Student Center has only a few external entry points and plenty of material for barricades. It’s also got generators, UPSes and all sorts of power equipment. Provided the generator on the south side of campus keeps the Internet connection up I’ll be able to put a lot more information up later.
Suffice it to say that things are well, and the cafeteria is well stocked, as it’s running for the summer. If it had been last year we’d have been up a creek, since they were only running the food court at the time. Plenty for all of us. Aims is well, and if it was possible, more uncomfortable than she was before.
Lest you think we’re alone, several friends are along for the ride, and they’re not bad to have: members of the NJ National Guard. Sgt V. and I are doing what we can to keep people sane, but it’s a tough thing to do. They think this stuff only happens in movies.
Entry points barricaded and guarded, electricity still running, and National Guard members on my back. Not a bad way to ride out the Zombocalypse.
And you all thought I was crazy planning this in advance. Now me and a couple of AR-15s are going Punkin’ Chunkin’ from the courtyard balcony. Sometime tomorrow morning we’re going to raid the bookstore and grab some more supplies, junk food, sodas, juices and the like. We’re stocked up, but it doesn’t hurt to keep hoarding.
Peace out, and stay frosty.
*GET LEWT* *GET LEWT*
I shouldn’t say that. But I did.
We had the North Jersey Baby Shower yesterday. It took the trunk and back seat of my Lancer plus the trunk and back seat of my mother-in-law’s Accord.
We now have baby clothes, enough to clothe 12 babies, as long as they’re boys. Three strollers, one car seat, two quick-release bases, bouncers, Boppys, bedding, thermometers, blankets, woobies, wobbies, Robbiez, and more.
This kid’s got almost as much stuff as I do, and he’s not even here yet!
To that end, I’m also jonesing to play a game or two, like Forza 2 or LOTRO. I’m sure I’ll have more time when the kid’s here, right?
Right?
*sigh*
Resume’s Done
Yes, I know it’s 2:30 in the morning or thereabouts.
I was on a roll.
It’s now about a page and a half, skills-based with that objective sentence that I had there before.
Layout is as follows…

Who Needs It?
Apparently Paris Hilton got out of jail for “medical reasons.”
I think it’s called “allergic to responsibility,” and it’s been an epidemic in this country for years.
I think jail would’ve cured her of this, but it seems it only exacerbated it.
Oh well.
We Wuz Robbed
Today, the Memorial Marauders lost their first softball game of the season to Team Everybody Else, 12-10, by way of being shafted by time constraints after-the-fact. The ump said he wasn’t going to pay attention to the time limit and just let us play 7 innings. We got out of the first inning by mercy rule, as they scored 8 runs on us. When we rallied to 12-10 by the end of the 6th Team Everybody Else said that the game went too long, and they wanted to leave, and the ump let them.
What a work. I didn’t know we were jobbing for them.
In more important news, I went 4 for 4 with 1 RBI (with 2 outs no less!). I rock.
Stupid Resume Tricks
It took me hours of thinking, and mind melding with Aimee and Chris O. to come up with this:
To obtain a web programming and design position in which I can apply my technical knowledge, problem solving and teamwork skills in a challenging academic environment
I feel positively retarded.
Also, I moved from a chronological to a skills-based resume. It’s most appropriate for my current situation: I have the skills, but the current job doesn’t actually do what I want to go and do. I don’t want to work support again (unless I absolutely have to). I want to exercise my brain EVERY DAY THAT I’M WORKING.
Is that so wrong?
Jobs Jobs Jobs!
Currently working on updating my resume for employment opportunities in the Triangle area in North Carolina.
Right now I’m aiming at Duke and its satellites, but I’m not shy about hearing about other opportunities that’ll pay me roughly what I’m making here.
I do all ranges of tech support, Mac and PC, Linux too…on the other side of things I also handle web design and programming, LAMP stuff, plus Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Pagemaker, etc.
Other than PHP, I have experience in C++, and a semester of Visual Basic. Blergh. Management-wise I’ve had 10 people working for me and had to schedule them, and assess budgets to keep them hired.
Also, WILL LEARN FOR MONEY!
